He traveled to many places and met many Christian writers, but only through books, as his monastery had a vast library. He never set out to become a saint, or the Father of English History. He wrote <\/span><i><span>The Ecclesiastical History of the English People<\/span><\/i><span> to record the sacrifices of many who had given their lives for the Christian faith in England.
