His message of reconciliation is something the world desperately needs in these dark times of spiritual and cultural division.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nIn Vanier\u2019s own words:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>\u201cToday we are living in a very stressed world. There is a lot of fear and even hatred for those who are different. Jesus came to preach peace and to break down the barriers that separate people. The first L\u2019Arche Community was started in 1964 in Trosly-Breuil, a village in the north of Paris, when Vanier invited two people with intellectual disabilities to live with him in a small house.
