{"id":742,"date":"2014-11-12T03:00:59","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T08:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.paracletepress.com\/index.php\/give-thanks-in-all-things\/"},"modified":"2014-11-12T03:00:59","modified_gmt":"2014-11-12T08:00:59","slug":"give-thanks-in-all-things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.paracletepress.com\/index.php\/give-thanks-in-all-things\/","title":{"rendered":"Give Thanks in all Things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Renaissance Girl<\/p>\n<p>I logged on to <a href=\"http:\/\/amazon.com\" title=\"http:\/\/Amazon.com\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon.com<\/a> the other day and was startled to see, staring back at me, a &#8220;countdown to Black Friday&#8221; (which, as it turns out, now begins for many stores at 5pm on Thanksgiving Day).<\/p>\n<p>The one day a year that we are actually encouraged as a nation to express gratitude for what we have, is fast becoming another day we are encouraged to aggressively go after what we want.<\/p>\n<p>I felt myself self-righteously puffing up with a rant about lack of gratitude and &#8220;where are our values&#8221; and then ground to a halt. How often do I live this way myself?
